Some are fairly new, but have recently opened on the market. Others, like eBay and Craigslist, have been around for a long time. Either way, a few best practices can help you find a buyer and get rid of unwanted items.

How to sell things you no longer want online

That's what Brynn Wren, 68, did when she decided to move in with her sister a few years ago and had to downsize her 2,100-square-foot home to fit two bedrooms.

"I started selling everything I had accumulated over the last six to eight years and kept only what I really needed," says Wren, of Roseville, California. Although necessity initially drove Wren to sell on eBay and Facebook Marketplace, he found that he liked her.
